On a new 2500HD... Diesel would cost me an additional $12K! Not gonna happen. My first 5th wheel is under 10K lbs full. Gas engine leaves me well over 5k lbs room to grow. I will be living on a fixed income, so can be taking on that debt.

There's tons of space. Overhead console and center console to begin with.

For general wheeling, what would you guys go with first? Winch or OBA? Both seem to have their benefits but I can't narrow it down as to which I should go with first.

Thanks guys. Been looking at the Badlands 12K vs the Smittybilt. I've read somewhere that they are the same winch but either way I'm still planning on divorcing the solenoid and sealing it with silicone.

That diesel will pay for itself in about 48,000 miles (assuming 12mpg at $3 gas vs 19mpg at $4 diesel). Only a quarter of a cent per mile difference, but it adds up in practical mileage expense.

Was trying to stay under $500 with synthetic line. I was thinking wouldn't it be advantageous to be winching slower, being that you're in a situation where you'd need a winch anyways?

    You should sell that Badlands...

BTW I'm local and looking for a winch...

Don't forget the higher MX costs and DEF that needs to be added at fill ups.
