I ordered everything off of Amazon. Have a 2-jaw puller, impact, torque wrench, and big breaker bar on hand for the carrier bearing. I've found that the ole hammer and socket trick is faster and easier than using a press as well.

Thanks Chris, I got on this GB and have the CB in hand. :)

Do I really need the impact? I have access to all the other tools. By any chance, do you remember what was the size of the nut that holds the CB on? Maybe I'll reconsider the socket trick.

Can't remember what size the socket was. It'll be difficult w/o an impact. 100+ ft/Lb to break while trying to keep it from rotating.

Rent a ball joint press from Autozone. Its clamp is the perfect size.

That was what I was thinking of doing at first. Happy to know that tool will work. Thanks for the advice.

Well hell.......guess it's time to learn how to do this job.......always been a solid axle guy before this truck and never had to replace a CV but not bad I guess for 160,000 miles and then 3 plus years since lifting it.

Will anybody be heading toward or passing through @ckeene9 's area before May 31st? I need to get his LCAs from him... I will be in the area May 31st-June 6th in Yorktown but will drive to you to pick them up if you can get them from Chris's place. I will obviously pay Chris for them before or when you pick them up.

Please let me know if anyone is heading his way at all. Thanks!

Do you even know how to get to Kuwait? You realize @ckeene9 is in Afghanistan right? I am going to Afghanistan today, will see him this week, but I doubt he has them with him. :brianr:

Mine lasted quite a long time after the inner side of the boot quit. If it doesn't bind while turning, and doesn't click, let it go... or not.

Do you know the trick to separating ball joints, without damaging the boots?
