That’s a good move man, I actually was just thinking about you and having to go back down there. The cool thing about Maryland is once you do that epic first inspection...that’s it. I know a few guys who bought a truck to mod and had all these parts stashed to install after the Maryland inspection.

Yeah and there the inspection was actually useful. I learned I needed new front brakes, and a new rack and pinion. Only “dumb” thing was one headlight had moisture and was another reason it failed, but I get it. Resealed it and good to go.

Agreed man, it’s a stern, but sensible inspection of stuff that could be of concern as let’s face it...they won’t see your ride again so it needs to be of a decent standard before you get the thumbs up.

That is the one thing I miss about MD but the amount of junkers on the roads up there is crazy. Buying illegal stickers was so easy up there.

Someone here is helping me out big time. I guess I actually ripped my license plate lights off on a rock this summer. So valid failure. My swing out covers the lights in my hatch and they work so I asked if I removed my spare tire on the swing out and put my plate there, would I pass? And he said don’t worry about it. Exhaust add on is on, he said that’s good. And pulled my front two rock lights so I’m good there. My reverse light was also illegal so I pulled that and pointed it elsewhere and he said I’m good there. So I passed?

Things must’ve changed since you were last here, unless you’re talking about illegal registration stickers? There’s no inspection sticker, you just get a piece of paper needed to register your vehicle.

Yeah it's been awhile since I've had to deal that shit hole. It was a small piece of paper you had to have before even getting your registration for the first time. My last car I bought one for like $80 IIRC

Haha so the plate lights were valid. I still don't understand the issue with the rock lights if you have them on a separate switch. They must not have noticed mine or because mine are red. I don't know

Ah gotcha. Yeah there are a bunch of shitty cars here. You’re always seeing them on the side of the road. I just attribute that to the sheer volume of people here though. If out of every 500 cars there’s 1 shitty one, it’ll seem like a lot more in an area of 6 million people vs half a million, or whatever. Probably a combo of that and differing inspection laws.

I'm thinking it's more the lack of checking on a regular like VA. People don't go to a mechanic until stuff breaks or check those things

I like that a lot more than the old style smack dab right in the center of the windshield.

Haha and stuck right there behind the Toyota glass ID crap. Great spot. It's so weird to me they can pass it with the ditch lights covering it up yet before a good scoop over an inch or something would fail

That was always my fav part whenever I crossed into MD...if you look hard enough you can always find a guy where his vehicle took a serious shit. I had a few friends up in MD and their fathers that lived there would run their vehicles until they flat out didn't run. I do agree that its a good thing for VA to have an annual inspection process, but the criteria is too tedious. I'm honestly surprised with MD that they havnt ever changed their inspection laws to every couple years or something cause half the time when they shit out...its like bruh...you knew years back this was going to happen.
