Exactly. I doubt you could get enough current out of one to actually hurt yourself.

I think their output range is in the millivolts, maybe up to a volt or two at really low current.

Thats cool. So if I'm guessing right you do like the temp chamber, salt water spray, noise, and vibration type testing on the equipment?

yeah, we do vibe room, noise, and temp chamber....dont think we do the salt water spray though...for environmental testing we source it out and have another company do that for us....

Based on your description, I would assume this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotic_electrostimulation

A function generator used normally is not dangerous. If you turned up the function generator to maximum output, you could grab the copper handles with dry hands without injury or even feeling an electric shock.

However, most of the resistance of the human body to electrical current is contained in the dry surface of the skin. If the copper handles were applied to wet skin and/or inserted into the body, that resistance would be bypassed and the function generator could generate enough current to cause serious pain, injury, or even death.

But, to put it in perspective, everything I said about the function generator can also be said about the battery in your truck.

Figured out what it was being used for. Feet in tub of some sort of liquid... leads in liquid.
