So I want to install a front camera to help on the trails and tight parking spots. Been reading alot of threads but most have it liked to their rearview camera. I want mine to come up on the factory screen like my reverse camera does. Just trying to find all of those that have accomplished this. Where/What camera did you get? Mounting positions? What would I need to do to make the front camera display on the screen after the toggle switch is flipped? Thanks!

this is the system we used on our ford ambulances we used 4 cameras one on each fender and front and rear view.
fairly easy install. but will require a splitter for extra cameras past the two that comes with the kit.

as far as a factory option for toyota. i don't know how to splice in.

I think the question is ..... how do we take the camera's from the lexus gx460 and/or other models and apply it to our vehicles. (1 in grille, 2 under mirrors, and I think 2 on rear sides)

I have the head unit mentioned in the 2nd post. Don't like it, and am pulling it back out as the end product is just not as polished as the OEM unit. I also have the forward cam mentioned in the previous post. I'm tying everything into the OEM head unit with a significant audio upgrade and making it appear all like stock. Hope to have it finished and a writeup posted in a month or so, depending on how smoothly everything goes.

I wired an adapter to my OEM head unit's camera input to connect to an RCA input. I then converted my OEM camera input to an RCA input. This gives me the flexibility to plug whatever video source I want into the camera location to display on the OEM deck. For testing I unplugged my backup camera and plugged in that ebay camera linked earlier mounted in the Toyota emblem on the grill. Since I hadn't done any additional wiring yet, I put the truck in reverse to see the display of the front camera. The results were actually surprisingly good for a cheap camera and the location and angle was excellent for view perspective.

By completing the backup camera anytime mod (which I haven't done yet) I'd be able to enable camera feed to display on the deck at any time. Since the deck only has one input, an RCA switch mechanism is needed to switch inputs from rear camera to front camera. I bought an OEM style camera button to mount in the center lower switch panel, and my thought was hitting the button would enable the backup camera anytime mod and switch the RCA input to front. A more simple approach is using an RCA splitter and having both camera feed into the single input all the time. The camera button would then power on the front camera and activate the backup camera anytime mod, which would display the forward signal. The drawback of this approach is when putting the truck in reverse with the front camera on, 2 video signals are fed to the deck simultaneously causing an unusable static image. I tried it.

Unfortunately I swapped to a Pro grill, which is incompatible with that front camera and haven't purchased a new one yet to continue working on the project.
