I need to get my truck aligned and I am worried that my cam bolts are seized.

Can't find anything on steps to adjust the cam bolts. Do you loosen from the bolt or the nut first?

Then do i just see if the nut turns or not?

    Thanks

The bolt needs to turn and the nut needs to also be free to allow the bolt to turn.

unless your going direct to the alignment I match mark the bolt to get it back to the same spot.

Make sure the Tie rod lock nuts are free as well

I take new Cam bolts and nuts along as well as new tie rod lug nuts.

Some shops will just tell you the alignment can`t be done parts are seized .

The best ones!! say your Truck is to old it is not in our system

There are some short YouTube videos about it. I just picked up a degree gauge from Harbor Freight and will be aligning it myself. Lots of up and down but I know I will do a better job than the shops I have talked to. The string method with a 6” machinist scale worked awesome for the toe but my right front camber is out considerably. If you are doing the hard part for the rack monkey you might as well do it all

Sorry, late night stress. Not clear in my post.

I have no intention of doing the alignment, my wheels just have a ton of positive camber and I wanted to take that out a little and check my bolts and make sure they are not seized.

Every video just show someone moving the nut or bolt but not how they loosened them. I just don’t want to break or strip it by cranking in the wrong one

The nut holds the cam bolt tight, if it is torqued properly, you will not be able to turn the bolt without loosening the nut. Loosening the nut will not effect alignment if you make sure the bolt doesn’t spin. Mark the location of the large round washers before putting a wrench on anything. After you’ve loosened the nut, you can turn the cam bolt (adjusting your alignment) to see if it’s seized or not, but make sure you put it back to where it was before, other wise you’re alignment may be a extra work for the shop to get back in spec.
