So I had and alignment done after I installed new struts, took it to a different firestone and everything was fine for a day then I was getting a clanking sound coming from the front end thought it was the u joints had all of them replaced and carrier bearing. Didn’t fix it, and I noticed my cv axle was getting loose and loose took it to my firestone and they said cam bolts were way loose. Is it possible that loose cam bolts stretched or screwed up my cv axle? Wasn’t like this before and now it really loose compared to other side but firestone said it was fine. Queastion is shoudl I be going after firestone for a cv axle?

Not really. One of the bolts would have to fall out and allow the LCA/wheel to flop around to over extend the cv axle

who ever did the alignment screwed up though. Those bolts need to tightened to 100 lb/ft

Someone forgot to tighten the cam bolt bolt and torque.

This is curious. During my last alignment, I was in the shop, under the truck helping the guy. It was a small shop in Okawville, IL. He didn't use a torque wrench but he was a big boy and I saw him really lean into them. That was March-ish of this year. Last week, I had to re-tighten three of them. Now, I'm going in for another alignment. I replaced bushings and hardware before hand and greased the bolts and sleeves. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

If there is a torque spec for the bolt it needs to be torqued to spec. The specs are there for a reason.

It’s ok to grease the bolt where it sits in the sleeve or bushing but it should not have grease on the threads or behind washers unless called for, doing that actually changes torque specs.
