So every once in a bit, my '03 v6 just wont start cuz the cam position sensor throws a code on me.
I give a few minutes and it starts - go to Autozone/Advanced and check the code...blah blah

Usually happens after doing some off road driving. Especially hard gravel roads with lots of vibrations, maybe a little water hole/ mud driving.

I'm gonna get another one, but is this something that happens to other drivers out there?

I'm thinking it may be the harness or plug and not the sensor...

What code number does it throw? Follow the troubleshooting procedure in the repair manual for that code.

Yeah, sounds like the waterproofing o-ring on the connector may have gotten dry rot and/or fallen apart. Have you ever pulled it off? Just asking because disturbing ti if it is brittle, you may have set yourself up for some water getting in there.

This is from the 2003 FSM:

    C 1 Camshaft Position Sensor 90980–10947

Ah ---- perfect answer!!!! Going to the junkyard to grab a few sensors. I'll get some of those O-rings too.
Wish I had the tool for making/pulling those wires... Get a couple plugs too!

    Thanks

Figured out how to get the end of the plugs off. literally pops off with a thin flat blade screwdriver.

No luck with finding a sensor today though. May not even need one.
