Looking into getting Camburg's uniball UCAs to replace my SPCs. Is anyone using the capped version? I'm guessing that the main advantage is that they're less maintenance-intensive, but, from what I've read... the maintenance for uniball UCAs doesn't seem all that difficult or time consuming?

I believe you're referring to the X-joint version vs. the Uniball version? IMO if you're not pushing the limits in a hard wheeling or racing scenarios there's no point to get the uniballs over a the sealed X-joint , esecially not if it's your daily. The uniballs will start making noise eventually which is extremely annoying. I went with the X-joint version in 2019 and have barely even had to think about them other than putting in a few pumps of grease here and there when I remember.

Ah, yes well then in that case if you're convinced you need uniballs there's zero reason to not get the caps.

Ive got 75000 on my capless. No issues. I like the idea of the caps; they were not available to my knowledge 6 yrs ago. Not sure I would spend 65 bucks on em now though. One positive for me is with capless I am always vigilant on the maintenance, caps I may not be as attentive, out of sight out of mind. In theory though there should def be less care needed with caps. Curious if anyone has experience with the caps and long-term thoughts.

What I'm really curious about is how useful the caps actually are, since the bottom doesn't have a boot and is still fully exposed. I had similar thoughts about the capless in that it would have me inspecting them more often.

I went with the capped UCA’s for just extra protection.

They snap in tight and sealed nicely with the O rings. Guess it depends on how you use your truck but I feel better knowing at least the top is protected from mud, etc.

I've spent a lot of time off road in AZ, NM and UT, mud, dust, sand and water. Camburg builds a good UCA. You will be happy with any of their products. I have noticed that debris pushes to the top of the ball and the seal is really good. At 70000, without a rebuild. I just spray em with water when I get back from a hunt or road trip and follow up with wd40. After a few days I hit em with triflow. This is recommended by camburg as I spoke with them about it at an off-road show. If I were to run the caps I would prob just make it part of my oil change maintenance and call it good. Only exception is if you hit it from underneath with high pressure water or you drive in wet conditions or across deep water, I would pop those caps and lubricate, run wd40.. drive few days caps off then hit with triflow and recap.
