I had posted previously in another thread and had something to add but since there are several threads that discuss recalibration of the camera I thought this should have a thread of its own.

I had an issue where Safelite would not recalibrate my camera since my tire size was different from OEM, 265/70 vs OEM 265/65. There position was that Toyota would have to do it and therefore it would have to have OEM glass which added $300 to my cost.

I decided to use another glass company that didn't care about tire size or vehicle height, they were capable of adjusting for those factors. Same Day Windshield was the name and they replaced the glass the next day and scheduled the recalibration for a few days later.

Several people have stated that as long as the camera is not unplugged during the windshield replacement, there's no need to recalibrate. And while I do understand that position, I want to relate what happened to me between the time the windshield was replaced and when the camera was recalibrated.

On a normal trip up the local interstate, my collision warning beeper sounded and the dash indicated a proximity warning as I passed under an overpass. I've been that route dozens of times and never experienced that before and have been that way since the recalibration and it hasn't repeated.

Take it for what it's worth - something was different so I wouldn't automatically conclude that don't have to recalibrate if the camera is never disconnected. YMMV
