Has anyone put an in-bed camper in their first-gen Tacoma? I am looking at a camper for sale that was on a Tacoma but they had drilled into the bed. I looking for places to tie down to. Not really experienced here so if anyone could give tips I'd really appreciate it.

There are all kinds of campers out there, depends on which one and what attachment points it comes with. Most of them have some kind of generic tabs you can hook a strap to and under bed on to the frame somewhere and suck it down. That be quick and dirty if you just need it for transport, until you can figure out a permanent solution.

I have popup on my 2003. Works fine. Just need to be mindful of the weight. Not much payload. The camper is strapped to the cargo hooks inside the corners of the bed rather than thru the floor of the bed. Had it for six years and 4 wheeling. No issues.es.

PS: I did add some add-a-leafs. think OME springs would be a better bet.

It was custom built by Phoenix Campers in Commerce City, CO, just north of Denver. They will build whatever you want. I use to have a Wildernest but this is way more comfortable.

    Yeah, that looks super nice!
    I love the large windows.
Is it a hard sided pop up?

It pops up to an interior head space of about 6' 2". The sidewalls are some kind of flexible plastic with a little bit of insulation in between the layers. Here's a pic of it popped up.
