Hey guys, so I'm looking for some feedback. I'm on the fence about purchasing a camper shell. Found one online for $900 leer, it's in great shape just undecided if I should purchase it. I personally like the look and I know "build your truck the way you want to" thing but just want to know what's everyone's opinion on campers?

Could you provide a picture of the camper you want?

I am currently looking for a caper for my 2 gen I ordered one but it fell through with the company
I say go for a camper because it keeps the bed out of the weather and you can lock the entire bed but if you want an open bed you can take the camper off

Who cares what our opinion is?? If you like it, and want it, buy it.

That being said, I LOVE my Leer shell. Can't imagine owning a truck without one again. Knowing your shit is dry and secure gives you lots of piece of mind.

That has the vented windoors, which are an expensive option. Oh yeah- camper shells, especially with windoors, are amazing

Super good deal. I've got a camper, had one on the last truck also. For what I do, I can't not have one. Def for some and not for others. Like you said, its your truck

I know who gives a f*ck, BUT just want to know others opinions. Little feedback is not a bad thing I'm most likely going to purchase it. I'm sure my two pups will love it back there. Appreciate the feedback guys! Keep it coming

I was on the fence too. Didn't really want to haul a shell around every day and figured it would be in the way when hauling some things. Heavy to remove and bulky to store. Decided to go with a softopper. I put it on when I need it but otherwise leave it off. Takes about 10-15 mins to install each time including removing my tonneau cover. Stores folded up and out of the way in the garage.

Never liked them until I needed one for the pups. Doubt I'll ever be without a shell on my truck. I guess my old man card is in the mail, eh?

I thought firewood runs would be annoying, nope ...

Pellets? Wasn't a problem, I only had to crawl in for 1 bag. The key is windoors, absolute must, IMO.

I agree. The only thing I regret is NOT getting windoors. Didn't think I would use them.... turns out, crawling in the bed sucks :) My next topper on my next truck will have windoors.

My shell is the ARE V-Series, but there is very little difference in function relative to the 100XR(?) w/ windoors.

I love my camper (Leer 100XR) but I would not pay what it cost if I did it again. I wasnt completely satisfied with the paint (eggshell and dimples around bottom edge), have replaced the third brake light due to condensation and leaking into the bed, and on my second pair of shocks for the door (which seem to already be on their way out). Otherwise it's worked well for protecting my gear and the Thule roof rack has been awesome.

Seriously, for what they charge ... you would think it could survive a mission to mars or something.

I am getting it for $900 which I think is a steal? No sure how much they run brand new. I'm assuming over $1300?
