my buddy used an old shop vac hose spliced to one of his AC vents (under the dash) to the bed for camping in the cap/bed and for the dog crate in the bed of his truck. He capped it when not in use.

    Worked well..

I’d love to have my lab up in the cab with me, but with 2 kids and a wife and all their stuff (junk lol) there is just no room for my 80lb friend.

I've seen that done. It's what I would do if I had a hard shell but I didn't wanna turn my truck into an SUV:bananadead:

Only issue I could see is that would definitely exceed the AC's cooling capabilities

Bringing this up from 2018! Did you ever upload the final product here yet? Thinking about converting from a softopper to a hard shell at some point in the future, and will need to sort this issue out for the dogs.

    Ahhh......you're doing it wrong.

Kids and wife in the shell. Dog up front.

They will have more space for their travel stuff, dog will be good, less co-pilot noise, you can listen to YOUR music........many advantages.

Seriously, be sure the dog has air flow and water at minimum.

    HAA! Yeah no kidding.

Definitely bookmarking some of these products for when the time comes. We're not due until August, and I doubt we get too much camping in for the first few months, so I have some time to figure it out. But, I'd rather not move on from the Taco to a Forerunner this quickly. I love my truck!

    Another option......

If you are towing a camper. Have them follow in a separate car. You have the dogs and camper. Just need to agree to the stop points. Communication is by cell phone. Really wouldn't need to stay together during the drive.

Now, you can fuel, road food of your choice, rest stop when you need, many travel issues are relocated......................

A 29er tube fits around the window. You basically won't even know it's there. I've had one there for about 6 months now with no leaks and no refills.

Go to Amazon or your local bike shop and get a 29" tube for a mountain bike. Should be $10 or so

How did you get the bed outlet to stay on while driving?
