So after looking for about 4 years I finally found a used Leer 100xr, right color, with more upgrades than I needed. I got a steal on it. I had thought about just about everything except just how much this thing weighed. Not sure how I missed it. Love the shell, want to keep it but...

That thing weighs so much it causes some sag which I don't like. And I'm not a car guy but it feels like the backend waves when I drive it. My truck is a 2006 with 215k miles on it. Have any of you had this experience? What did you do to fix it? I got it because we have a kid on the way and really want to keep it, but do not like the way it rides.

Any ideas? Especially ones that aren't crazy expensive?

    Thanks

it should be fiberglass, so at "most" should add about 200 lbs. depending on the accessories I don't see a major change in how it handles. It will definitely seem different because of carrying it and wind performance while driving. you'll just have to get used to it if you're going to keep it :)

respectfully disagree. When i added mine, there was a distinct sag and hitting bumps made it bottom out. New springs or at the very least an AAL should help. I'm going with an AAL until I can afford something else.

He didn't say he was looking to lift , just improve the carrying capacity for the cap

    What oz said.
Any of the aals are just going to be a bandaid, and a crappy one at that. If you do decide to get an aal for a temporary fix until you can buy a new pack, make sure you get a progressive aal.

What he said. I have a Leer 180CC with an Aluminum Rackit 3000 rack, and I was way down in the back and constantly bottoming out the rear suspension. I installed the Wheelers HD AAL and the truck rides and handles much better than with the stock. No regrets with the AAL, though in hindsight I probably should have just replaced the stock springs.

What do people think about Hellwig helper springs? I was concerned over the sagging issue as well
