What is the cheapest way to get a key made for a camper shell? Will Lowe’s or Home Depot make one or do I need to go to a locksmith?

I took my key to the local locksmith and had one made for a few bucks.

Call the company with the serial number. I had to do that for some ARE's I bought. I cost me $7 for 2 keys to be shipped to the local dealer.

The key on my leer shell is totally different looking then any other key I have had. Dont know if a locksmith will be able to do it.

Is there a key code on the cylinder you can give to a dealer?

I have side window locking handles as well so 6 total handles. Mine were a little rusty so I ordered all new ones from local shop. 6 new shiny handles and all hardware, keyed alike for $80.00. I'm sure you can find them cheaper but this was local and easy. Not what OP asked but another solution.

    1) What brand is your cap?
    2) Does it have the serial number visible?
    3) Is a key number visible on the lock cylinder?

With the answer to number one and the answer to either two or three, you should be able to contact the manufacturer or a dealer and be good to go.

It's just a camper shell lock. It's not that fancy. Any respectable locksmith can handle it.
