OK, quick question for the knowledge base out there -

So, i have been long trying to find a color matched, mid top for my girl (not easy, being a speedway blue), but saw one posted last night. My problem... they say

"Astro 1600 camper shell for a regular cab Toyota Tacoma"

Now, i have a double cab.... if i recall correctly, something for an RC will rub like mad/won't fit, is that correct (or do i have it backwards, and there will be a huge gap)? Am i going to lose it being so close, and yet so far (its a pretty decent price if it really is in good shape)...

    Sorta.....

So, a Reg Cab, having a more vert angle should fit, but would have a bigger gap on my DC. That aside, are there any other size considerations to worry about (such as different bed length or width)?

Bought a black Leer from an ac to put on my rc. It rubs the cab so I store firewood under it now. It pays to do what you are doing.....research

Well true.. would rather not blow the money. IN this case, its the opposite of what you say.. i want what may be an RC, and put it on my DC.. if i am reading right, i just might have a bigish gap, which i think could be ok..

Well, got in touch with the seller.. frankly, it is so close to what i want, i think i will take a quick drive, and see if i can try it on, and see how it looks. I think i could live with a cap, but i have to see it in person. If i go with it, ill post back with some pics

The Beds are the same size.

I bought a A.T.C. for mine because Leer didn't make a higher than cab height (180 model) for a regular cab. I like it so far but have only had it a few months.

Irony... it seems that fortune favors the bold..

So, i took a shot, and went out there anyway. Walked around.. it looked great; hardly any wear and tear, smooth pistons on the doors, and clean windows. It had the carpeted headliner, dome light, and fold-in & sliding front glass. It has the sliding side windows with mesh.. it was perfect. But again, the guy said it came off a regular cab. However, the more i looked at the front, the more i saw a lip, and the more i thought it would fit perfect.

Sure enough, we put it on, and by god, its a fit! The topper may have come OFF of a regular cab, but it was not MADE for a regular cab. Walked away with it for $450, and i think i got a great deal. Now to sell my silver (plasti-dipped) ARE CX (that gave me great service, but i wanted hi top color matching...)

All in all, not a bad day!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
You have a double cab long bed, regular cabs are all long beds, it should fit just fine in other words.

In case you haven't noticed smartypants I've owned both a second and first gen, read my signature before you call me out on something like this next time.
