As promised, Leer 100XR on 2016, installed today. The finish between the door and tailgate is better than expected. I like it!

The front sliding window is a must. I bought a cap for a 2003 Dodge Dakota back in the day without giving a thought about how I was going to clean the windows on the truck and front cap window. I had it on the truck for 1 year after I got tired of looking at bird droppings running down the windows. You could get most of it off with a high pressure washer but some film always remained. I traded it for a tool box.

I've never felt the need for a tilt in, but I also pull my canopy off and back on 6 to 10 times a year.

Are those cleats on the ceiling of your canopy? Tell me more! Where did you get them and how did you attach them?

@BCJimmyZ, did you get your Vagabond Elite installed yet? Can you post some pics? I really like the specs and looks of this one.

Would you mind telling us roughly what you paid for yours? Thanks!

    Pat (Splat),
Thanks for the closeup of the back door at tailgate, was wondering how they would handle the gentle curve of the tailgate's top outer edge.

It's a factory option, however you also need to get the roof rack option since they are screwed in the reinforcement they build in for the rack. You can get 4 or 8. I beleive they are about 5$ each installed.

It's just my opinion, but the Overland only belongs on a truck with plenty of black accents. The Black flares on your OR, and some all black wheels would work really well. I'm thinking of black flares for my truck so it all goes together nicely. If you search google images, or even look on ARE's website gallery, the Overland looks kind of out of place on plain jane pickups. Can't wait to see which direction you go!

Another reason NOT to do the Overland, is that it is the V-style shell, which is their bottom line product, and that doesn't excite me. Still doing homework. The truck is a B&W Off Road AC any will have smoked rain deflectors and mud flaps, so I agree, the canopy styling would look good. Also really like the curved glass on the rear hatch door on many Snugtops.

Wow! That looks great! I was curious as to how the sliding glass access lines up with the sliding glass of the cab? Also, what material are the cargo cleats made of? Great job! This looks awesome on your truck

I ordered the A.R.E. HD Series cap with aluminum paneled windoors and rear. Excited to get it on next week!

Sliding glass aligns great. I added a little pipe insulation noodle around the truck's back window to prevent the snow from creating an iceberg between the cab and the shell and guess what? If I open both windows I now have a somewhat heated shell!
Cleats are made from some kind of sturdy plastic. I believe the screws will fail before the plastic breaks, even if they look stronger than I expected.

Man, That's great to hear since I just ordered the same set up as yours. I had ordered the overhead cargo net but have changed my order to the cleats after looking at yours. Seems more practical and offers more versatility. Are you happy with the win-doors vs the sliding screens? Looks very sharp! Great idea with the pipe insulation as well! I'll be sure to do that too. Thanks for the photos.

Man these things are not cheap! I was quoted $3,200 after a "discount" from snug top. What is everyone paying for these?

Yeah they are expensive. I am getting quotes for the base model shells. A leer 100r was like 1200 and an are cx was like 1300. For my wallet, I'm just gonna need to wait

I just saw your post while browsing this thread. I have a vagabond elite on my 3rd gen. It's the exact same thing as the Leer 100xr. I was able to save a good chunk of money of the Leer by going with the Raider. It has carpet interior, sliding windoors, led light, fold-down front window, thule roof tracks, and cost me a little over $2200 with tax and install.
