    Guys--

Found this Leer topper on-line for $600. I haven't seen it yet, but assuming it's in good condition, I'm going to purchase it. Has anyone added an aftermarket Yakima track rack to one of these? If so, should I reinforce the underside of the topper before I make the attachment?

i dont believe you need and heavy duty reinforcement.i have the factory rack on my fiberglass leer cap and its just some nuts/bolts with washers. my ladder rack on my construction cap only had 5/16" x2" bolts and it held 24' ext ladder

the rack isn't the heavy part. What are planning on putting on the rack?

I don't think you will have any trouble. I wouldn't bother reinforcing it.

I've been looking for a shell for almost a year and I can't ever find one for the 2nd gen long beds. You are lucky.

I'm thinking that maybe I should just buy new so that I can get all the features I want.

I was just wondering about doing the same thing. I just bought a used Leer topper off Craigslist for $200!! Color matched and everything. Only thing it's missing is the top rack.
