The ad say it's for an extended cab Tacoma....The front slope doesn't look right to me for an extended cab. According to the info I have found the cab slope is 10 deg for an extended cab and just 4 deg for a regular. Any opinions...?

    You are right.
I just today tried to fit a used ARE camper top taken off a 1999 extended cab on my 2003 regular cab. The camper top was pitched at too much angle to fit on my bed. Yes, the standard cab rake is much less, not vertical, but much less than the extended cab rake on first generation tacomas.

Anyway to tell for sure which truck this was made for....? They are supposed to send some more pics and they do not have any pics of it on the extended cab truck. It's a long drive just to check but the price is right.... $100

Well they found the serial number and the factory says it's for regular cab....I'm picking it up Wednesday. They can even sell me new keys as long as the handles have not been replaced or re-keyed. It's a Raven brand...Not a ARE or Leer but all the glass is intact as is the rear door...I figure for $100 I can't go wrong.

I used a top that was on a ford ranger. The angle up front would probably match an extended cab Tacoma but my truck is a reg cab. It was a cheap shell so I bought it. I measured the gap between the bottom of the shell and laid out a scribe line to match the profile of my truck cab. I sliced the corners off the shell and notched a recess for the 3rd brake light, then laid down fiberglass mesh and cloth. Sanded smooth and rolled with struck bed coating. Now it fits good and looks good enough for me. I ran it on my truck for a month or so but decided to sell it since I moved to a new place an don't have room to store it when not in use. It took a few evenings to get all the fiberglassing and painting done, but its very easy to do. vyta8ybu_a246c1a91e4a31fd93204517aae2a80ce0203668.jpg

That is a fantastic job on refitting a top....We used to have to do quite a bit of fiberglass work to our kart racing bodies but it didn't turn out that well.

Thanks. If I cared I could have spent more time getting it to fit a little better but it worked out fine. My main goal was to make it waterproof and it is. I really didn't spend much time on sanding, really just scuffed and roll the coating on with a foam roller.

It fits like a glove....Drivers side window has had the glass replaced with a single piece of plexiglas and they did a terrible job....But I think I can fix it pretty easy.

You can repaint it to match your truck
