I'd like to see what ya'll think about a campershell on my truck. I'd like to put a utility rack on top of it, gas cans, hi lift jack, you know the regular recovery equipment.

    here is a current pic.

    Camper shell would look good

Off topic: Did you have the those gulfstates wheels powdercoated on did you rattle can them?

I thought about doing that to mine before I sold them but was worried nothing would stick to the chrome.

I actually just got a shell for my truck with the intentions to take it off when I got home (bought used). But I actually like the way it looks and will be keeping it on.

If a shell somehow suits your needs then go for it. But I think the truck looks better without one, plus better rearward visibility without.

^ Not disagreeing with you, much. I expected to have greatly reduced visibility but in all honesty its fine. Really its like driving an SUV, Tahoe, Suburban. You get the point. Not to mention I drive with my mirrors so I'm not missing much.

I rattle canned them...Long process, But it looks killer. BTW they scratch really easily. But all it takes is about 2 short sprays and they go away.

    Everybody else...Thanks, Keep em' coming.

Just my opinion, but i do not like camper shells at all, i think it screams old man lol, I wouldn't ever put one on my truck unless I absolutely had no choice and would have it off as often as I could. I think you have a great lookin truck without it :)

That depends what do you use your truck for. If you outdoor person Camper shell on Long bed is awesome. You can sleep inside have TV mounted small bar etc... :D
Trust me when you get to camp site and it is raining you will love to have dry place to sleep comfortable in it.

I so want one. One guy in Amarillo was selling a silver one with roof rack for like 500 or 600 which is not bad at all. I think it was silver too. i was lights from him, and he was really kool.
I am not old and I have saggy ball, but I am married.

I read at one point he had a buddy that would take it to dallas or something. That would have been way worth it. I priced one and the cheapest new was like $1200, and that was basic.

I have a camper and I love it. I can stick all my gear in the back and lock it down. Couple things, I ride motorcycles and it sucks that I lost my bed especially when it's must me going riding. Whereas before I could just throw it in the bed, now I gotta break out a trailer. Secondly, and I posted about this in another thread earlier today, but you'll probably need to reinforce your springs. I used Hellwig helper springs and they worked great.

Not suggesting you do or do not buy a camper. But if you do, your load is going to increase and gas mileage will decrease. Oh and by the way, it's a lot more to wash and wax.

I like the security my camper offers when I'm hauling stuff. The only things i couldn't fit were like mattresses, but i just tied them to the roof. The things i don't like about the camper is the lack of visibility, especially at night. Also when those back windows get all dusty and dirty driving at night is a bitch cause you can't see shit backing up
