So, the time had come to get a new Backpacking Tent. I'm wanting a 2 person tent with 2 doors that is pretty spacious as I'm over 6ft tall. I'm not looking to spend a whole bunch but am seeking a quality product. Any recommendations?

70* is the typical break point for needing a pad or under quilt.

Thanks. Hmmm, 40*s during the night. I plan on sleeping in a baselayer and 27* bag. What to do what to do. Guess this will depend on what I consider cold.

You'll need an under quilt more than a pad.

One of those silvery space blankets can make a halfway decent substitute in a pinch. :notsure:

I'm in the same boat. I want to upgrade from my REI Quarter Dome. I'm probably going to buy a Tarp Tent. Maybe a Six Moon Designs. Not sure of which model yet.

I have a light ZPacks Solplex tent and a couple of their cuben fiber packs. I'll have to upgrade if I get a dog again.

This tent looks decent. The price is a bit higher than I wanted to go but...you get what you pay for most of the time I guess.

My girlfriend & I were leaning towards an REI Halfdome 2 Plus because it meets our needs and is a lot cheaper than the rest of tents in that category. Although, I'm seeing Big Agnes & Marmot tents I like.... decisions decisions...

Thanks for the input, I think I'm leaning toward a little bit of a different style tent.

The Solplex is pretty minimal. 19 oz. with poles and stakes.

MSR hubba hubba. 2 doors, self standing, 55oz.

Ive been using it with my gf and our small dog. I am 6'1 and I fit into lengthwise. height is also good when sitting up.

This is intriguing too, especially with a 20% off REI coupon.

    I'll check it out, thanks!

I'm sure REI is counting on everyone getting in to use that 20% Discount Coupon. Especially when they mailed out the yearly dividends at practically the same time.

I hope they hold up well for being over $400

I was looking at the Half Dome 2 Plus as well. Extra length for us tall folks and a small enough footprint that you're not setting up a townhouse on site. Plenty of room for 2 people. The 2 doors and vestibules are great for keeping gear out of the way and you're not climbing over your partner to get to your stuff.
