Haha well if he found the one good one out of 20 options, don't need to reinvent the wheel.

@Cuffs, did you have an opportunity to film or take any pictures of your recent drive on the 120?
I'm dying with anticipation over here...

I've definitely considered making my own. Maybe I'll make up a batch. And honestly I don't backpack much. I just keep some MH around for emergencies or when I'm headed out on short notice. Went camping last weekend and the menu was ribeyes, foiled potatoes and brownies. Definitely not a light pack.

Alright @Cuffs and you other hammock nuts.... Thinking about getting a hammock, nothing fancy or expensive, just want to lounge around camp and maybe catch an afternoon nap after a long hike. Suggestions? REI sale coming up next week too...

I bought a standard width Hexon 2.4 from Dutchware Gear last week for my gf (but it was really to see how I'd like a standard 60" width vs a wide 72".) I ordered another one for myself on monday, it'll be here saturday. Not bad for something hand made. I'm going to be making the continuous loops (to hook the hammock up to the suspension) and ridgeline (not needed, but makes it easy to the the lay consistant) myself since 25ft of amsteel is $6.

    http://www.dutchwaregear.com/11-ft.-double-layer-netless-hammocks-en.html

If you order from him with suspension he includes the continuous loops. If not you're going to want to go to his DIY rope and buy two.

Most hammocks don't come with suspension, so figure you're going to add $30+ for it on top of the hammock.

    I'm with @pittim.
But I'll add... Just get something basic. If it's just for back yard hanging, ENO is great, but there's less expensive stuff out there.

In my back yard in New Orleans, I sunk three 10" diameter wood poles (piling cut offs) in the ground. 30" deep, set in concrete, 13' apart and slightly angled away from each other. (We had zero trees!)

Eye bolts thru the poles and link chain on an S hook from the eye. ENO carabiner clips right to chain.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Not backpacking related, but def car trip related: bought the wife an Osprey Ozone 80L, and myself an Osprey Meridian 28".

And grabbed 2 cheap hammocks on groupon for $20 each.

Leaving for a 3.5 - 4 week road trip on Thursday. Also picked up a Nikon D5300 for it, as well as some bear spray and stuff like that.

That's not glamping. That's just using a nice yurt. Now if it had power, TV, eat that's glamping.

Not yurts. And we had Mr. Buddy heaters. And catered meals. And ice cold showers. And canned wine.

Ah. Looked like a couple yurts I've stayed in before in Oregon. Still looked like a fun event based on the other thread
