Wait, you are going south but starting there? That doesn't seem right.

Do you have that first screenshot in a larger size? I'd like to read it but the text is too small!

It was fullsize, but TW compressed it. I can upload a full size to my FTP and link you. Give me a minute.

Awesome, thanks man! I have been talking to a friend of mine who did it in 2002, so it is very interesting to me, especially after my recent Yosemite trip. I am not in position to do it that soon, but would like to complete it in a few sections starting in a few years maybe.

The first ~30 miles of the actual JMT are cut off of this chart because I'm not redoing it again next year. I have the data for the entire JMT for this graph, I just have it hidden. That's another great feature of this spreadsheet I made.. if you hide the lines on the data page, they disappear from the first page graph. But, they are still available to work with if I end up using this tool again for the rest of the trail again.

My noob excel status will not allow me to make such an advanced spreadsheet, haha. That is really cool though.

New nerd file now has a "view map" button next to each waypoint that populates into a Google satellite view map in the corner. Locations still update as I change the waypoints so the button updates as I make the changes to the chosen campsites.

Any suggestions on a nice light 2p tent? I was debating between the rei quarter some 2 and nemo Hornet 2p. they're about 1lb apart and $70. Difference. Nemo is lighter at 2lbs but $370. I was looking at maybe $300. I really like my Hennessy hammock but afraid some places might not just have trees to hang on. Was planning to do some places in bear country and the hammock scares me.

Be careful out there climbing people. Took a 20+ft whipper straight to the ground last week and broke my back. Landed ass first on a boulder. Then had to rappel and hike out. Drove myself to the hospital once my partner dropped me off at my car. No outdoors for at least 6 weeks. I got really lucky that I'm able to walk still.

Nemo, MSR Hubba Hubba, and BA Copper Spur UL2 are all really good, light freestanding tents, but of course are pricey.

Friend of mine has the new Quarter Dome 1 and it looks very nice, so I'm sure the 2 is great as well.

x2 on the MSR Hubba Hubba NX. That was my 2P upgrade this year, and I'm glad I bought it. Fast pitch and takedown, and it's 4.2# including stuff sack, stakes, poles, and the added footprint (sold separately). Not the absolute lightest for a chain store-bought tent, but it was perfect for 2 of us on our 5 night trip. Handled great in alpine winds, and it breathes really well. No condensation at all, even in valleys with rivers.

Check out www.tarptent.com for really lightweight 2P tents in the 2-3# range. Zpaks makes great stuff, too.

Been happy with the TNF 02 this Summer at 2.2 lbs. Closers to a one man, but stood up well in three trips above 11,000'
