And this list has changed (rarely). Only the Garcia has always been on the list. All others have been in and off the list over time.

    FTR I hate the Garcia.

Sure, it's a revolving door of a list, but safe bets for what to buy.

I liked my BV500 but I don't go in bear country too often.

The BV series is great. Our 450's have served us well for shorter trips.

It's well served to call the Ranger office where anybody is headed in bear country and ask them about what bear cans they don't recommend or allow. ;)

Ive back packed , hiked, and spent the night many times at the Mt.Marcy dam area in the Adirondacks and the black bears there are super smart. I used the bear vault solo up there before they were banned. The forest rangers there really frown on bear vaults, if they check you they wont let you use them in that area because the black bears have figured out how to open them. Luckily ive never had an issue with any bears just chipmunks tore up my bearbag once.

Helinox Chair One on the way. Taking advantage of the 20% off member coupon. I'll give it a try at only 1.1lb packed weight, 1.0lb without stuff sack. My base weight is already down just over 7lbs so far, so we'll see if adding the new pound is worth it

I have one. I like it, and it supports my fat ass. Haven't backpacked with it though.

Oops, I meant the Chair Zero. I already have a Chair One, but the new Zero is half of the weight and still holds up to 260lbs. My wife backpacked this year with the Chair One, but I refused to carry the 2lbs. I'm more likely to bring a chair if it's only 1lb.

That makes sense. One pound seemed lighter than I remembered the chair being haha.
