Any of you refill the isobutane canisters?

My plan is to refill the little 100g containers with just straight butane. Not too concerned with blending propane into the refills. I can always run my jetboil straight off propane if I need to.

I ordered up one of these pictured below. I ordered the one in the lower left corner, which is actually two products stacked together.

With my cost, I'll break even at 10 refills, and start saving after that.

With a straight butane fuel, you will have issues at colder temps. From what I've researched, straight butane will not work below 32 degrees F.

Not a problem for us. Don't cook / camp in that weather. I'm also more or less retired from backpacking and just into family truck camping. Having the truck at our disposal, I pack an adapter to run the jetboil from pure propane, which works well. Only downside with that, is it's a little cumbersome to use and we have to be careful to not use too much heat when boiling water.

I use a NEMO Tensor Insulated 25L Sleeping Pad and love it. It packs up incredibly small and weighs 1lb. I sleep well on it even on my side, which is where a lot of pads tend to fail.

Here's a good comparison article for you to check out : Linky

The writer of the article reviewed 127 sleeping pads and narrowed the best down to 12. When I was on the market for some new backpacking gear (sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and tent) I started a thread on that forum and he gave me suggestions to stay within my budget.

White Gas doesn't have a problem with cold I don't think.

Not unless it's really, REALLY cold. My white gas Coleman dual fuel functions perfectly even when it's -20 out.

Shrug. Winter camping. Coldest I've been out in has been about -25, without the windchill (which obviously doesn't affect the stove) and everything worked properly.

Yep. Definitely need a GOOD insulating pad between your bag and the ground. And of the old-style foam design, not the inflatable stuff you see everywhere now.
I usually cheat and put one of those space blankets between my pad and the bottom of the tent, too.

Took advantage of Suunto's sales this week and got a customized Traverse Sapphire. Had my Whitney summit date printed on the bottom, too. My little accomplishment trophy. Shipping direct from Finland and gets here Friday. I'm giddy.

Been a while since anyone posted in here!

I got a few goodies today. A base layer shirt, neck gaiter, MH Merino beanie, and a MH Ghost Whisperer jacket, which I scored for about 39% of the retail price (Campsaver for the win!).

I'll be ordering some new inov-8 hiking boots in a week or so. Bought some Keens on Black Friday and they just aren't working out. Not sure why people love these so much. My old inov-8s are full of holes and still feel better.
