Just because it isn't the prime season for everyone to camp, some of us still do! Also, the off-season is the best time to dial in your gear and get ready for "your" season.

I sent back my Bearikade Weekender, and they're making me a custom 9" one so I can fit it in my ZPacks Arc Haul pack. I did the math and it will fit horizontally without being too tight, while only sacrificing 1.5" of height in the can. It will ride just where I want it to. Gotta wait until March when they get a new shipment of carbon fiber cylinders in though. :pout:

Winter camping in January at higher elevations ain't going happen unless you ditch the truck for snow shoes or a snow mobile. The FS roads to most of my spots above 8,000 ft are closed and packed with snow that is measured in feet.

The high desert shouldn't be too bad, just be prepared for wind. Or head South to Arizona, New Mexico or Texas this time of year where the campgrounds aren't overpopulated.

It's not a true pressure cooker unless you put a screw in the steam vent hole. But for its weight and simple design... it's interesting.

@Cuffs Have you seen the adaptations of putting hot stoves with remote tanks in a Trangia setup?
I have a couple sets of vintage heavier Trangia sets. And an old kettle.
Trangia winter setup is cool too.

I have an old Trangia set up with the original alcohol burner and also a butane/propane stove. Works very well for certain trips, although I seldom backpack with it except for winter trips.

Ha, and some say the Trangia isn't for the cold. :)

Have you used the winter pre-heat adapter?
