only twice, but for 2-3 days at a time. i thought about sealing the bottom. but then i could cut a new top for free with plywood in the garage. just keep in mind the stove will be at crotch level, snd within reach of lil kids. and it got pretty wet with dew, still no swelling.

Just a bunch of old crap
I use the 5' folding camp tables, which you can get at Costco and other stores. Sturdy, pretty darn heat resistant (use a trivot for really hot pans), and washes easily. Leave it out in the rain and don't worry about it. Heavier, but packs flat and can be laid down in the bed or stood on end. About $35.

I always used a Therma-Rest pad. Do to illness my wife needed to get up off of the ground. A few years ago i bought this cot at Cabela's http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabe...rowse.cmd?categoryId=734095080&CQ_search=cots

I don't know how large a person you are but the size of the cot fits us well. You may need a larger model.

It was on sale and I had a discount coupon so it came to $50. They have the same model without the side organizer for around $50. They always have sales and coupons. We use the Trerma-Rest pad on to and it insulates from the cold air.

Benefit is that there is room under it for storage and helps keep things organized in the tent.
    Can sit on it.
Easy set up and take down.

Packed it does take up more room.
    Kinda heavy.

If you are staying in one spot for awhile they are great. If your traveling and moving to a new location the Therma_Rest pads or an air mattress is the better choice as far as I'm concerned.

I picked up their XL cot for $99 yesterday. A bit pricey, but it will be comfy for extended stays and like you mention, there's space under the cot for my gear. I have 2 thermarest sleeping pads, but they are pretty narrow. I'm looking into wider options like the Exped MegaMat.

Camp pillows are like golf clubs & mattresses...ask 20 people, get 20 different opinions/answers.

So, I'm doing a remote fly-fishing trip in Alaska in August and need a good camping pillow (compressible).

    I welcome any & all opinions/feedback.

Not really gear related, bit sorta. Has anyone ever made coffee by using an egg instead of a filter? From what I read, the egg causes a chemical reaction to pull the bitterness out of the coffee and boost the caffeine (not really sure how caffeine can be boosted). It also holds the ground together so you can pour a clean cup of coffee.

    https://www.eater.com/coffee-tea/2016/11/29/13769856/egg-coffee-scandinavian

My pour-over method is pretty simple with minimal cleanup (just throw the filter and grounds away), and produces a great cup of coffee when you use quality coffee grounds.
