Interesting. I get no foreign taste or scent from my Platypus Big Zip bladders at all, not even from the hose. I've always stored them dry with my other gear.

I don’t dry my bladders. Pour out any water, shake it for good measure, and pop in the freezer. Been doing it for probably 6 years.

I think I'll try this! I hate having them hanging from cabinets in the kitchen.

I bought a 'WindBoiler' before jetboil sued.

We have a basket in the kitchen sink window that has dried yarrow sticks standing up in it. Ziplocks and bottles, and of course my hydration bladder, can set upside down and dry out from the sunshine. (South facing window)

I've had funky tastes only from silicone bladders.

When we switched to plastics it was heavenly, the bad tastes from my Camelbak bladders had me avoiding water while hiking, especially on a hot day and the water temp increased and the taste was even more noticeable.

What rain paints does everyone have for backpacking? Been toying with the idea of rain pants. But they all seem extremely baggy. I like slim fitted clothing.

    Negative.

I believe my fiancée still uses a silicone Camelbak and I switched to Platy’s, with a brief dabbling in the Osprey bags with the rigid backing.

I use Source and just shake them out - no powders or mixes, just water - and stuff them in the top basket of the freezer until needed.

Waterproof fabrics don’t stretch. If you get them very snug they will have leaks or tears or rips more easily because of the streased fabric. Patagonia H2No is highly comparable to Gore-Tex.

You may want to also consider a rain skirt or rain kilt

I run the Zpacks rain kilt, and recently just picked up the new Vertice rain pants from them as well (more as a wind pant and an extra layer in the colder weather). I hike 3 seasons in shorts, so this combo works for me. 100% waterproof and windproof, while being ridiculously lightweight.

Dude, your acwalking billboard for zpacks. Why don’t you just put their logo on your jacket and be like a NASCAR driver... hehe.

No doubt. I definitely keep their lights on, but I must say that their stuff has not let me down at all. We all have our brands that we're loyal to :)

I have their logo sticker on my truck window, bear canister, and my cooler :anonymous: and I even started writing my own reviews on my blog. I need help.

Oh yeah, and I have their trucker hat with the logo on the front :anonymous:

Source is the original hydration bag, developed for the Israli army before Camelbak existed. They are also sold under Deuter, Salewa and other brand names. I prefer them for the big opening, quick please tubes, lack of taste and general ease of use.

Source has some cool products. An adapter to refill without removing the bladder from the pack, sandals, etc.
