My gear wall. Actually, only the old stuff up on top. I sold the shop a few years ago. This wall has some of my climbing gear from the Montana, Alaska, Yosemite days while another has 40+ years of my mountaineering skis. I have trouble letting go of old gear, although I at least have a place to display it. Hiding on the top are an original Stove Legs piton and a full set of Robbins Wallnuts.

OK, with 7000+ posts, I can't spend the weekend reading to see if I can find what I want in here.......... you know, it's a holiday and all that.

Anyway, our last extended power outage, (and a coffee drinking wife) pointed out the need for a cooking source at home other than my NG grill.

I need a small unit that will take LP bottles, hold one pot, very stable, boil water quickly (she uses a Melitta), handle a pot of soup, stew, etc.

Since I'll never backpack with it, it doesn't need to be uber light. Just efficient, durable, and easy to maintain.

    TIA!

Just get a Coleman stove. Recommend getting a double burner in case you need to heat up two pots at one time. Easy to find at any Walmart or sporting goods store, easy to get parts, and they last forever.

Old Coleman stoves are still everywhere. A new filler cap seal, and oil the pump leather. Fill with new Coleman fuel, and done, ready to use.
My fav is the Coleman 413(Any letter).

Coleman Collectors forum, post a 'Want to buy a working Coleman stove' That may take a day or so. Easy Peasy and cheap.

OK I don't find this as much of a camping accessory as much as a life accessory but this recent find as amazing. I have been using neoprene beer coosies for years. They help keep your beverage cold and your hands warm.
This was the best it gets for 12 ouncers until now. Last week I stumbled upon a Thermos brand beverage container that has a vacuum sealed barrier. These are stainless steel with a rubber top and a plastic bottom that holds the seal and are easy to put in your can and remove it. I can't believe it took so long to find them.

Ditto. Except. We recently got the two burner stove and it was ok. We traded it in on the Coleman Triton burner (I think that’s what it’s called?-it’s Christmas Day and I’m drinking- and I love the new burner style. Way more efficient than the old style.

PS. Merry Christmas from Zion NP! Virgin River is literally 30’ out the back door of our temp housing.

Got this for my b-day (12/24). Eddie Bauer Alchemist 25/35 (expandable). Wanted it for both long day winter hikes and for spring/summer carrying in fly-rods to remote areas. The side pouch/pockets and straps are perfect for 4 piece fly-rod tubes.

I have to say I really like my Thermos Stainless King mugs, but A can does not last long enough for me to need much more than a neoprene wrapper that I use.

Here’s some phone photos from my Big Bend trip about a week ago. Went up to the rim and did an overnight and came back down, summiting Emory Peak (7,824ft) on the way.

It’s Texas so the mountains aren’t huge, but the Chisos rise from the desert floor and look pretty menacing due to their rocky, basalt makeup.
