I have the Nano Puff. I like it a lot. very light weight and compresses nicely. You'll definitely need to have a baselayer with it at 25F though. I have the zippered jacket. I like the zipper to make it easy to take on and off. Wish I had a hood on it though.

I tried on an Arc’teryx Ceruim hooded down jacket a while back and honestly...that has to be the best light weight down puffer I’ve put on. The price was the only reason I didn’t purchase it on the spot. I own a hooded Patagonia down jacket and although I like it, I would choose the Arc’teryx over it in a heartbeat. There was a significant price difference and that’s why I went home with the Patagonia jacket instead.

FWIW, the Patagonia Nano line is all synthetic, not down. Don't know if that matters to you.

He was comparing it to the thermoball which is also synthetic.

Anyone have experience with the mountain hardwear Super DS down jacket for REI? Im referring to the REI exclusive one. The baffling system is different than the regular DS from mountain hardwear which is sewn to hold the down in place. looking for a nice warm down jacket I can wear to boulder in outdoor now that the temperature is starting to drop.

Yeah the Arc'teryx stuff is crazy expensive even if it is on sale. Nice stuff but way out of my price range

have you guys looked into Poshmark? I usually find amazing deals on clothing for cheap.

I picked up a brand new, with tags thermoball for $40

Ive had good luck purchasing cheap icebreaker baselayers.

Ive been using the Mountain hardwear Ghost Whisperer. Works great for me so far, and ive had dinner when its been low 30s out when I was on Mt Whitney. Albeit, I had a base layer, mid layer, and then the Ghost Whisperer. still worked great and i got it on close out too, something like $150

FYI - Columbia owns Mountain Hardwear. That being said, check out the Columbia stores at your local outlets.

I also have a GW. I do love it, but agree that you definitely need other layers with it. It is not all that warm by itself. I also have a Patagonia Hooded Down Sweater. It's warmer but heavier and doesn't pack as small so I mostly use it car camping or wearing around town.

I have a Thermoball as well but it's kind of my "beater" jacket for when I am working outside and it is cold.

Yeah, I hear that. For what it’s worth...it got down to the 30’s at night and the Patagonia hooded down sweater worked great paired with a thermal long sleeve shirt

Speaking of which, I have an employee discount code that must by used by Nov. 18, 2018 for all Columbia own companies. which are Mountain Hardwear, Prana, Sorel, and of course Columbia. can be used online. Please let me know if anyone is interested. I can send you a picture of the code and directions. 25%+ off. Just send me a PM.

Tempting until I realize I have a $450 MRI bill to pay today. The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer is intriguing looking at it online originally it looks a loot bigger than it really is I guess.
