I have a poop trowel too.

And a mosquito net for my head. I bought it at Vogelsang High Sierra camp. Because we thought we were going to die there. We got the last two. The pother behind us are all dead now.

Glad to see I'm not alone in the gear junkie category. I no longer need to hide my cool shit. I have tried many different types of gear and they all have their own pros and cons. The tent I finally fell in love with is a Henry shires tarp tent hog back. It is incredibly light and has great room for two adults and a kid. If I'm solo I went to the hammock. Once you go there then you can't go back. I have a war bonnet ridgerunner and a tarp. I went double layered so the thermarest goes in between. Hands down the driest most comfortable sleeping in the woods. I use the msr pocket rocket stove and the little primus lantern off the same gas. The original leather an is still my favorite. Head lights area must. The suunto compass still guides the way. Asolo hikers are my current go to boots.
As stated above, great to see others that appreciate great gear

I always wanted to try a tarp tent. My length needs made it pretty hard back in the day, I think I needed a double rainbow or the other model that was enormous, can't recall the name. It may be the hog back.

I also have a hard time committing to a product like a tent or sleeping bag that I can't actually touch.

Weve got the same hammock

Forgot to add the tarp. For now i just use one of those junk blue ones. When i have the $ i will buy a real backpacking tarp but its pretty low on the list. Need to get the girlfriend into backpacking. I know she'll love it after all the trips we've done.

I picked up a Nitecore HC50 a few weeks ago, and so far, it's been stellar.

Me too on the can't touch... These guys are small shops, no press one for English. When I bought the tarp tent I had them oversize the stuff sack so it would pack easy. The quality is excellent. They are very good about returns or mods to fit your needs. The price seems high, but it's not a 12 year old Chinese girl in a sweat shop that sews them either.

Just picked up some more stuff for my budget solo short-range setup. Went with the Eberlestock Halftrack (definitely not the first pick for a lightweight setup but the tacticool gearhead in me won over), plus a patrol (30-deg, not intermediate) MSS mil-surp bag (new condition, cheap and pretty great reviews for 3-season camping). Went with the Lynx 1 tent from Alps, a couple STS stuff sacks, a Jetboil Flash water boiler, a couple trekking poles and some other stuff. I need to get out more and drop some pounds and up my range before deer season, so I'm planning a couple overnight hikes, nothing major, just an excuse to get outside more!

We hit up the west side mostly, only did tuolumne meadows one night then hit up mammoth, red rocks and some lakes on the way home.

SO the coleman air mattress has finally died. Lasted 8 years of decent use, so I can't complain. This last weekend we had to fill it up 3 times during the night, and still woke up on the ground.

Any suggestion on a new one? REI, Kelty?
