    Reserected from the dead.
Shoes as well are in quarantine. Almost new Keen hikers, which is a shame, since I'm tossing it all.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. Since I know I am effected quite readily, I don't want to risk it.

Hey, it's not Wuhan virus! It's just poison ivy. If you get it put a 2x2 adhesive bandage over it immediately so you won't scratch it and spread it, take some Benadryl and go get a steroid shot. I am super sensitive to it as well. I make my living in risk management, but throwing away an expensive pair of Keen's? Seems a little extreme. Set them in a shallow pool of Simple Green or Purple Power for a few days then rinse with hot water, repeat (w NEW solvent), rinse. If you catch it from them, THEN throw them away. I would not wash any of it in the washing machine. Too much chance of cross contamination.

You get that initial telltale itch, you run it under hot water to get it to itch stronger and bubble up so you can identify it for sure, then put the patch on it, take an NSAID and Benadryl and fuhgetaboudit. I've had it so much it doesn't even itch past the first day anymore. And take a hot shower immediately. the kot water will make other infected areas itch, areas that had you not otherwise found before you slept overnight, that you would scratch in your sleep and spread it around unknowingly. Ask me how I know...

Grandma had the best home remedy: break the blisters early to speed their drying out, scabbing them over and earlier eventual healing. It involved dabbing the early-pre blister poison ivy rash with a clear astringent, might have been Witch Hazen. It burned a bit, but you could watch the blisters form and rise, straining the heads. Then she gently raked a popsicle stick across the tight heads and they burst. Wash the rash, re-dress it. That simple. It healed about a week earlier. The clear liquid came in a poison ivy treatment kit. This was in the 60's. Probably benzene or some other carcinogen, had a high vapor pressure, but damn did it make those blisters rise and engorge with fluid immediately. Truth be told...it was fun busting them.

The greatest concentration of poison ivy, oak and sumac I've ever seen? Easy: The Savage Gulf in Tennessee. Carpets of that shit, everywhere.

Is there a BST thread for camping gear/clothing? I searched around but came up empty.

Great question since I have a backpack and tent I'm trying to sell. I posted in my regional thread but the folks there are more about off roading.

Yeah they've got a fairly active thread for firearms BST. I suppose we could just make one if it doesn't exist yet.

On the topic of poison ivy, I had the interest to look into it several years back (got a REAL bad case after falling off a motorbike and landing in the stuff ;-).

Any way, the gist of it is. The OILS are entirely harmless to humans. (and dogs, cats, deer etc..) BUT, In a very high percentage of people, the oils trigger an immune reaction that sends one's own defense mechanisms into a raid and plunder tizzy! So, it's an allergic reaction. Like peanuts or hornet stings. In fact, a significant number of people display NO reaction to exposure at all. (like dogs, cats and raccoons do not)

Also, NO ONE has the reaction with the first exposure. The body needs something to work up it's defenses against.

None of this is any comfort to those who suffer from the stuff, but it can influence how you might respond and treat the disgusting puss oozing blisters and hellishly intolerable itching!

    Camping related.
Anyone with information about electric coolers. Please PM or post.
I am aware of GoSun, CSI Black Ice, and ICECO brands.
Black friday sales coming up, I would like to have my homework done before that.
    Thank much,
    Ken

I think Dometic and ARB are the predominant manufacturers, but they all cost a pretty penny.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I should have included those obvious brands. Yes, pricey.
I am not a Yeti guy, I bought a Coleman that keeps ice for 7 days and cost 99 shipped.

Once you get a truck fridge the cooler will be brought on trips less and less. I do bring my RTIC if I have a lot of canned beverages. That way I can have a smaller size drink cooler.

I am right with you there with my RTIC. Sorry I can't be of more help for the electric ones, but am interested in looking into the three you mentioned as I was not aware of them before your post.

ICECO uses a (said to be) well made compressor. Secop (danfoss) compressor, made in Germany. There was a group buy here for ICECO (may be active codes) and a current one for CSI.
I am just starting my research. Dual, I can make ice, when I have power, and use it without power if I have to.
I have Jackery (2)240s and a 500 as well as Jackery and Rockpals 100w solar panels.

@ETAV8R Yes, that is the plan. No more cooler and no more ice, slush, lukewarm food floating in the cooler. And no more having to drain the water.

Mostly this is for road trips. But, the occasional power outage and shopping trips with frozen food.

I use the cookset. Works good though I use it on a small alcohol stove. It's slim so may not work with your burner if it is larger.

I really don't like any french press...but that's my preference. I swear by the Aeropress.

Same feelings about the Aeropress. I use it every morning.

    Exterior storage.

I'm very critical when it comes to organization when we go out so this helps -
