    Hey All,

Going on a 6 day camping trip and for the life of me, i can't find any of my camping lanterns or other lights.

Anyone have some good suggestions on camping lights/lanterns and a good handlamp? I have one of those 300W battery banks so anything rechargeable or even plug in could work.

PS - A black friday deal on them would be great! I head on Saturday morning (11/14) so will need to buy and get before then.

    Thanks!

I was on a 3 day canoe trip in Arkansas, floating the Buffalo River with my cousin a few years back. My cousin had a Luminaid, we quickly learned they don't attract bugs like many other lights. Water proof and rechargeable, the new ones can charge your phone, plus they collapse down to almost nothing.

these 4 panels were on sale for prime day, still kicking myself for not getting one instantly.

    https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2-Pa...ds=coleman+lantern&qid=1604964324&sr=8-7&th=1

each panel comes off and is magnetic so you can put it on your truck or rack. can put them all back on there and hang the whole thing. im keeping my eyes open for a black friday deal on them

Been eyeing that as well... Just not a fan of having to put D batteries in it.

My dad had one of these years ago and I kinda liked it but does take a lot of D batteries. I've also had some experience with the individual lights not staying on the base very well or being all that bright.

All good suggestions. If I may also offer a suggestion for the campsite, I would recommend looking at string LEDs. I bought a set at REI Outlet for about $20. They are fantastic. USB powered, variable intensity and give a warm glow to your campsite at night.

The lights I bought were Revel Gear Trail Hounds.

Another vote for string lights. They distribute light a lot better than any lantern I have had. Not to mention it eliminates the harsh blindness issue from going back and forth between dark and lit areas. That with a good headlamp should be all you need. (Actually, probably not even. I'm one of those weirdos that doesnt use a headlamp or flashlight when wandering off to go piss.)

Recently a friend brought along some weird prototype lantern that he got in exchange for a good review. It was a battery lantern that you could take the lid off and uncoil to an 8 foot string light. I thought that was rather clever, but havent been able to find it.

Spot on about string lights. Much better for night eyes than the bright lanterns. Although the brightness serves a purpose while rummaging around looking for my head lamp that always seems to go missing when i need it. :)

Thanks for the tip on the string lights, my wife really wants some and I wasn't sure which to buy. Just bought those Revels.
