Mods are currently being changed .....

I have the solar string lights for the tent at the campsite. I dunno..They're ok, but 18ft is barely enough to go from the ground, up and over the tent entrance and it's not a big tent. If I was using them for a different application, I'd look elsewhere for a longer strand. Otherwise, brightness is fine.

LuminAid lanterns are the tits! And theyre solar rechargeable, so if they die, just keep them on your dash as you drive the next day and they're g2g again.

I have a grip of them in the truck and would be hard pressed to buy anything else again.

So we tested the Revel LED string at home. They are impressive for $25, can't wait to use them for real!

Used them last night. They were great! Super easy to set up and wrap around everything. Brightness was perfect, for $25 I highly suggest!!

    back to bone stock.
thanks for the suggestion bud. i picked up a set. they work great to suck down my fish finder battery i run on my kayak. the battery really behaves well with the occasional total discharge.

i have the lights stringing up in our bedroom on the bedpost..very very cool. i bet my fish finder battery could run a pair of the strings for weeks. i cant wait to use them at camp.

i am gonna wrap them around a small cylinder of packing foam. they do feel flimsy and feeble. cant be total ham-fisted with them.

I'm about to go camping and need to get some light to take with me. I'm torn between regular rechargeable and solar rechargeable. My budget is right around $30. For me the main appeal of solars is that I don't need to fire up the truck to recharge them. My only reservation is the lumens (is 75-100 enough to light up the campsite?) and potential longevity (the "most helpful" reviews complain about how they break after a few uses, or the inflatable ones get holes in them, etc.). What do y'all think? Solar or not? EDIT: I'm not looking for headlamps.

i say get a battery head lamp. i have a battery coleman headlamp and a biolite rechargeable headlamp. my biolite must leak a change so it only lasts like 3-4 hours when im camping. my coleman lasts around a lot longer? normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but my headlamps become my lamps in my tent when i crawl in. my biolite died a few hours into my last camping trip when i was stuck in my tent and it was raining so i couldnt really be outside.

and why a solar rechargeable headlamp? you mainly use them when it gets dark and theres no sun? seems a little silly
