Here is my setup. Its a Mombasa RTT. They are the same as the Camping Labs. I was going to get a CL but he was in the process of moving his warehouse back in June (still is from what I read on ExPo). I got my RTT from TRDParts4U and dealt with Jacque (great service!). It sits on a frame my buddy and I built. I think we have camp set up in about 10 minutes usually. Love it!

This is right on the shore of Lake Superior on the very tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We had a pretty good storm that night and we were dry as could be.

Thanks. I see All Pro Offroad is offering up a pretty decent-looking bedrack for RTTs now.

I wish there was an option to have it about "8-"12 lower to keep the RTT up out of the wind.

I wonder since its a bolt-together setup, if you can just mount the bars lower?

Not sure. I might have to send them an email. I need a different setup than the rack I have.

BTW, I like your avatar MrGrimm.

youre problably better of finding a local fab shop to build you the rack you want. the shipping costs on the all pro bed rack cant be cheap. and then you get it at the height you want, not the height they want.

I am currently reviewing my own options for camping. I've done a lot of motorcycle camping, where space is a huge issue. With the Tacoma obviously the options blossom.

Kodiak makes a cheap version of a Springbar tent. Very sturdy, heavy canvas. 10' x 10'

I also have a Moss tent, Titan, now made by MSR. a 2 person tent. THey could be used together for more privacy. Jumping Jack makes a nice tent trailer: http://www.jumpingjacktrailers.com/

My current thinking is to buy a light weight enclosed cargo trailer and outfit it the way Randy Vining has done: http://cheaprvliving.com/StealthCargoTrailer.html

Randy has thought this out very well. Like him, I am seeing this in terms of long trips, or even living this way for extended periods, as opposed to a weekend campingtrip

Pretty basic for me. I also have a king size memory foam with a cover that goes in the bed of the truck. Makes a perfect relaxing bed in summer time and at tailgaters!

    Just the basics
You could sleep 4 in a flippac. Expedition Portal is a great website with a lot of information on how to get yourself set up for camping.

We now have a litle one. I think a Flippac would be the next step for us. I think we can tough it out with the RTT for a years yet until he gets bigger. We will see!

Flippac are really nice but right now they are like 4400 and apparently are going up in price come February. I just can't justify paying that much even though its a sweet setup.

What options would be best if you are camping in say Yellowstone? I know there are the "Alaskan" campers that are hard to find a decent one for a decent price. I know in order to camp there you have to have a hardtop, are there any Alaskan style bed campers out there? TW should develop some Alaskan style bed campers where the top raises straight up ;)

I plan on building a custom bed rack to hold a RTT for mine at some point, still not sure what height I'm going to make it. Between that and a custom roof rack I'll be set for camping trips..... I also plan to make it easily removable so I don't have to leave it on all the time plus I want to build a trailer as well for when the whole family goes.

In a few months, all-pro will be local for me. I might have to swing by to see what they can do.
