Was able to snag a campsite at Serrano campground next to Big Bear Lake this weekend after 6 cancellations at various SoCal campgrounds the past few months. Only downside is the showers at Serrano will be closed, anyone care to share their shower/wash setups? Need ideas (I’m all for roughin it for a few days but the wife is a glamper for sure)

This is so perfect! I'm planning on heading up to the Big Bear area in a couple of weeks and this sure will come in handy. Anyone know if available YP sites are typically easy to find during the weekdays (Monday-Thurs)?

    Schat's is open 7am to 2pm - wear a mask, social distancing..
Forest's open but camp grounds still closed, neighbor is out flushing the water systems so they could be open soon.
One new case of Covid in Bishop, please wear a mask and practice social distancing if your planing on coming into town.
BLM protest at Bishop Park at 10 tomorrow, expect road closures....

    Thanks for the info.
BLM protest in Bishop? Oh brother. Does every city need a BLM protest? I can understand a Native American Lives Matter protest due to the regional history but BLM? Oh well.

The organizer tried to change the spin on the protest to included Native Americans, immigrants, ended up canceling it late last night. Not sure if everyone got the message.....
Went into town for shopping and Schat's at 7am - nobody was at the park, lots and lots of CHP, BPD and Inyo sheriff's cars scattered around. All the Mono and Inyo law enforcement agency's have announced mutual aid agreements which is comforting to know.

Thank you for sharing this information. My wife and kids are heading to Reno today and we were concerned that they would have to deal with this.

According to https://www.recordcourier.com/ Carson City is ok but there are curfews in Reno. Might keep an eye on Reno reports.

Also gas at the Mobil station in Big Pine is $2.79 cash or credit - Bishop is running 10 to 20 higher....

Thanks my wife filled up there. She said it was $2.17 farther up in Minden for anyone heading that way.

Yea when I was up your way visiting my brother second week of May all was normal. Wore my mask in town at carrols, copper top, and high country. Haha didn’t even go in my brothers house. Camped near the old mine oN the east side. Love that spot.

Worst part is that there have only been 20 people catch it, they tested all the health care workers and only two have antibodies so there is no herd immunity in our area. We will get clobbered in a second wave when people start relaxing their guard.

I stopped going to Fort Independence for fuel. People I know have told me when they calculated their $/gal it comes out differently than what shows on their receipt. Big Pine isn't much further. Mobil same price cash/card and usually lower prices than most places in the valley make it my go to stop. Especially during non-summer months when I'm heading to Death Valley.

Haha swindle the gas amount. Classic if it’s true.

also the new power wash spot is pretty clutch in big pine now. Especially because my brother is a cheapskate and doesn’t own one up there.
