How does it tow with your truck? What's it like going up and down hills at highway speeds? How does it handle the wind?

I'm not going to lie. It struggles going up some grades. The thing that sucks the most was the MPG's. The wind was a small factor especially when large trucks pass you. But other then that it was great. I did add a super charger shorty after the trip. Lol

I have been towing RV's for 30+ years. You have received some good advice here......
TRY before you buy....rent something comparable (size and weight) and tow it around. IF, you buy first and it doesn't work, you will not be a very happy camper. In the RV world there is an adage - more truck is "always" better. If you hook 4500#'s (or more) behind your Tacoma, you'll quickly discover why.

    Workin progress...
Just do what I did and buy a 3/4 ton diesel. 19,500 pound towing capacity sure drags a 8k pound trailer nice.

Been RV trailer towing off and on for 25 years. Look at the trailer dry weight or shipping weight and see if has a single axle or dual axle, you want single as they are either 3500 or 4500 trailer max weight.

We towed a 16 foot Casita to Alaska and back from Iowa with a Chevy 1/2 ton 5.3 V8, no EQ hitch just anti sway bars. We Never carry water in the tank, just enough to flush if needed. Gray and black tanks always empty.

You do not need to spend money for New, lots of hardly used campers on the market, we purchased the one we have now 2 years old for 1/2 new price! Keystone Ultra lite Passport 175BH. One axle 4500 lbs max weight and 410 lbs max hitch weight. Hitch weigh is usually 10% or less of total.

You do not need to max out the weight, no water carried except for 5 gal or less to flush. Battery and propane tanks and that is it. It has shower, stool and all you need. Previous owner upgraded the queen sized mattress.
We paid $10,500 used for a 2017..... 2021 Keystone Passport 175BH For Sale in Surprise, AZ - RV Trader

I REALLY dig these. They make so much sense. Sadly I'm like the OP, my lady doesn't ask for much, but she wants a shower and toilet. Public/campground/outdoor restrooms ain't her thing....and that was before the last years drama. Been looking trying to split the difference. Enjoy it!

The designer of this rig managed to work a shower into it. Pretty cool.

Consider a Geo/Epro trailer. They have a bunkhouse version that may suit your needs with kids. 4000lb full minus water, 650 tongue weight. I added air bags to my taco and it pulls fine.
