Hello, I own a 2003 Tacoma 4 door w/ 3.4 engine so I noticed the the valve solvers leaking so I replaced them and when the job was finished I went to start my truck and it started like normal except for the white smoke and after a few minutes it did not clear up I turned the motor off and inspected a couple of things and found the head gaskets blown. So I ordered the gaskets needed and proceeded to tear the motor down and replaced the gaskets. Now the truck has high mileage so we looked and replaced everything needed and reassembled the motor. Now I can start the truck and it will run but dies almost as fast as it starts no matter how I work the throttle. It’s like it is running out of gas and yes I have fuel in the tank and I am getting fuel out the line. I have replace the injectors, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the mass air flow and inspected the throttle position sensor. The only thing I have found wrong is the oil sensor wire was pulled out of the sensor but don’t know if that would cause the motor to act this way? Please any advise

Tacomas of this generation have a fuel pump cutoff relay that needs a signal from the starter while cranking and a signal from the crankshaft position sensor when running, sounds like the run signal isnt there. There is a blue wire on the relay harness that provides power to the fuel pump. Do a search to see where yours is located under the dash. See if there is power to the blue wire while cranking and see if it stays when you relaease the key to the run position. There will not be any voltage at the blue wire if you just turn the key to the ON position, this a Toyota saftey thing.

Since you had her apart, on the upper intake manifold close to the DIAGNOSE plug there is a harness that has multiple brown wires with black tracers all into 2 ring terminals, these are the grounds for the FI system, check them. There are times where the wire is broken internally but the insulation make it "look" ok.

Thanks for the advice and I will be looking in the wiring tomorrow when I am off. I’ll keep you updated.
