Can’t program key fob 2002 Tacoma prerunner

Hello and thank you in advance. Just purchased a 2002 Tacoma prerunner. It does have power windows and locks. All info online I could find tells me my truck should be able to have a key fob programmed. It just will not go into program mode. Have tried it so many times. Idk if this is a sign for anything but when I use the key in the drivers door I have to turn it twice to unlock all doors. If I use the key in the passenger door I only need to turn it once to unlock all doors. Have unplugged what I believe is the correct plug for the receiver. Unhooked battery several times. Made sure I have done the process correct at least a dozen times. Nothing. Please help.

 

What is your FCC number on the keyless entry module? Does it match the fob?

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I don’t see anything on the box I’m looking at. Is it behind the glovebox? I took the 3 10mm bolts out of the plastic liner inside glovebox. I thought I was looking at the correct thing. Thanks again.

Just wanted to update. I did remove the door sill plate and the kick panel. I do not have the receiver behind the kick panel. So no wonder I couldn’t get it to go into program mode lol. I am now tossing up the notion of buying a universal one I found on Amazon that there is a good detailed install video on YouTube. Only about 30 bucks too. Just wanted to thank you that posted.
