It will be interesting to see how it does with traction control disengaged and ect on. I look forward to the results.

    My 2 cents...

Get a truck and a car. One sits low and goes fast, one stands high and goes over stuff. If you really wanna do both at the same time you're gonna have to spend more than $50k.

I always thought my 2nd gen had plenty of power. It worked great cruising and if I ever needed to step on the gas, it got up and went. Also sounded pretty awesome with the Volant intake and the TRD Exhaust. Again my .02. I definitely liked driving the new 3rd gen with the ECT mode tho

This thread reminds me of a familiar dilemma the many people have. There is a requirement/need or want/desire for a capability that in many cases directly conflicts with other requirements and wants. So take the F35 for example. The USAF, USMC, USN, and all those other countries, including Afghanistan want/require a stealth, multi-role, jet-fighter-bomber-close air support that also goes into space and shoots lasers. Ok, I made up the space and laser shooting bit, but the point is, that when you try to create ONE machine to do ALL jobs it ends up that its going to end up being only mediocre at all of them. While costing enough to bankrupt a continent.
Same thing applies here. You simply can't have a reliable, gas-efficient, maneuverable, responsive, low-cost, low-maintenance, comfortable truck without sacrificing certain aspects of performance/comfort.

My apologies for rambling, coffee on top of the fact that it's a Friday on an Air Force base....

As stated, i dont think anyone expected a rocket ship out of this truck, or even sub 7 sec 0-60 (i didnt), but 8+ seconds is terribly slow (imo, and compared to every other vehicle ive owned for the past 15 years).

Ill be honest, learning about this aspect of the truck was nearly a deal breaker for me. However, all other things considered; im still going through with my purchase. I did reach out for my local ford dealer and inquired about their current incentives on the f150, xlt, with 3.5 ecoboost, but even with incentives the price was still gonna be about 5 grand more than the taco will be.

The 3.5 is capable of 5.6sec 0-60 and that would be great, but the anticipated reliability of the taco, resale value, and my brother in law being the sales manager at my dealer (and getting me the best deal without having to haggle) out weighs my want for a quicker truck.

I'm counting almost 6 full seconds before you hit 60.

Edit: Didn't have sound so that threw me off a bit.

at least youre not driving a 16 year old vehicle with 4.30 gears. my 4runner is slow as shit, and has been made worse with my 50lb tires. i would realistically estimate a 10+ second 0-60
