I have a stock tacoma and i want to buy new wheels for it. I love the look of the wheels that stick out a few inches past the side of the truck. I don’t want to add wheel spacers so i was wondering how much of a negative offset my wheels can have so that i don’t rub? Or does that not matter at all?

Its going to be really dependent on your wheel's offset, tire selection and overall diameter. But yes you can run negative offset without rubbing or minor rubbing on the pinch weld.

your answer is yes. run this calculator. the biggest factor in your calculations will be the tire size and overall diameter

If it helps at all, I switched 265/70/17s tires with 17x9 ,-12, 4.53BS wheels and I rubbed on stock suspension.

    Slightly larger tire, but.

Just seen this! So you rub on this set up? Did you go back to stock?

I also went 265/70/17 on a 17x9 -12. I rubbed hard until I got home and got it with the heat gun and Dremel. A little trim at the bottom and some plastic reshaping and now I only rub at 80% left turn while braking. The rub is only on the driver side and isn't bad. I'm leaving it alone until I upgrade suspension.

    this and that...
if you want the short answer, yes. suspension wise my truck is running the stock hitachis. 17x8.5 et:-10 w/ 265/70/17. i think as far as wheel specs, thats the absolute limit you can get away with without doing anything. things are close but no rubbing. with the tires, it just really depends. my duratracs sit atleast a 1/4" higher than the atIIs that i had. that makes turning pretty tight, but a non issue. if you wanna be ok, just go 265/65/17.

FWIW, I went with replica 16x8 Sema rims on stock tire size, and they poke out a lot at 0 offset. Close to rubbing.

    Note:
    OR offset is +25
    SR5 is +25
    Sport is +30

I did yeah, I even still rubbed a little bit after I lifted 1.5"~ on the mud flap area. I've since moved on from that setup. I have 33" MTs on. Did some cutting for those and I still rub a little in reverse lol
