Guess they better re-open the case of the old couple in my area that died last year when the husband left the (modern) car running in the garage. Clearly the car wasn't the cause.

Cause sure as a bear shits in the woods any combustion engine will kill you if rnina confined space. It may not be immediate, but it'll happen after long enough.

And I've seen, read, AND EVEN TESTED IT PERSONALLY!!!!

    So I guess YOU'RE the idoit!!! :D

I'd never call you an idiot, because I've read other posts of yours. However, I would call you a 'clown' for your ignorance of combustion and your assumptions on vehicle exhaust.

Seriously, I have forgotten more about combustion than you've ever known. :p

You could die of thirst if you stay in an enclosed area long enough.

I have been is such spaces with an oxygen/CO monitor before. Have you?

I have. And I know that a running engine can create a toxic environement in a confined space in short order.

I was driving across country in my Chevy Malibu a couple years ago, I was trying to make it to Pennsylvania by Christmas, so I ended up stopping in a tacobe parking lot at about midnight, fell asleep with the car running, woke up at about 630. Lost like a third a tank of gas I think....

That's all I have to add to this

Presidents nearly die eating pretzels, does that make pretzels deadly?

Seriously, there are a TON of examples of idling engines lasting long periods of time IN THIS THREAD ALONE, with no harm to the occupant or the engine. :)

Indeed. Not all engines are equal, which is the futile point I'm trying to make. :)

I think what most are trying to say, is thats its best to error on the side of safety. Dont you think? If someone falls asleep in a vehicle, left running, and die....there's no reset button.

Working with the police dept, I've been in cars for 10 hours with the engine running. But we've also had the windows open, closed, the heater on, the heater off. The car is moving, with air flow around it. We've also gotten out of the cars to talk to people. We were not laying still, with a steady breathing pattern with the gases all around.

Sleeping within this environment, with windows closed to keep heat in, is dangerous.

You may have been okay but others have died. Why tell people it's okay when there have been deaths? Are you willing to let the OP take that chance?

Not arguing with your logic, but when the practice conjoins with reality, more people get killed by lightning (and most likely, hypothermia too). :)

Alright. Then why wouldnt you agree that its better to error on the side of safety, rather than initiate an argument, name calling, and basic "stiring the pot".?

Now THIS is interesting. There must be more lightning deaths than they are really telling us about.

I really dont see him name calling, but rather, making a generalization.
