Be sure to put a 1 amp fuse on the twisted pair of the amp meter when connecting to positive side.. First example of the wiring diagram you posted.

If you want to monitor the whole truck, disconnect the positive battery cable and connect it to the B side of the shunt. Then run a new 1/0 from the battery pos to the A side of the shunt.

Are you saying disconnect the lone connection i currently have the ammeter going into the 2 amp terminal on fuse block and connect it to the B side of shunt then run a 1/0 gauge wire to the big A side of the shunt? I do have a negative on the A side big post right now. Does it need to be removed?

Sorry.. told you wrong, when monitoring the positive, you go from battery to B side of shunt then connect your factory battery wire terminal to the A side of shunt. Wire the amp meter just like the diagram shows, just make sure you put the fuse on the twisted pair.

Did you disconnect your grounds from the shunt before connecting your positive?

Yes the ammeter without the two bigger shunt posts connected to anything is dancing from 8.9 amps to 9.2 amps now. Nothing on in the truck

I’m starting to think this isn’t a good idea. Ive smoked 3 150 amp fuses so far trying to do this the last 3 days. The ammeter i think is smoked too now anyway

I just pulled the wiring from everything on the ammeter. At the end of the day its not worth the hassle to me to know my current throughout the truck. Ill probably just get a USB port to put into the hole i cut out of the plastic piece for the ammeter to go in. Thanks for you who tried to help out. I still cant believe that shunt threw me off so much. Never had seen one before though and I’m no electrician by any means but I’ve gotten comfortable wiring a lot of 12v dc electricity over the last several months of mods and installs
