Can anyone identify this sound coming from my 2014 Tacoma TRD?

I am getting this sound coming out of what seems to be my dashboard when I am over 80mph and 2,500 RPM. It does not matter if my radio is on/off, heat/AC is on or off, Bluetooth on/off.

It is a high squeeking noise. Sounds like radio interference but is not. Unfortunately I cannot upload the mp4 capature I have on my phone.

Toyota Service cannot identify it either and are giving me the run around.

    Thanks for any insight.

Is it the 'excess speed' warning system?

Ok, it's likely wind noise. There are a couple locations that cause the problem from what I've seen around here. A little searching should find it for you.

I use to get something like this on my 2013, sounded like it was coming from the front door jam near the dash or some times the top of the door. Mine was wind related, typically happened once I hit about 70mph but could happen slower if I hit a good crosswind. Didn't have a fix for it unfortunately, ended up getting a 2015 though (long story in another thread) and it doesn't have that issue. But it does have other door issues haha

Above 80? Jesus, I hope that's on some random straight road with no other traffic on it.

Thank you for your insight and direction. I was able to identify the issue. Windshield Wind Noise. It was officially documents in a Service Bulletin T-SB-0062-12 but only on the 2009-2012 models. Here is a link to the bulletin and a youtube link where another own captures the issue

So this morning, they had no idea and never heard of it. I went back this afternoon with the notice (after calling Toyota Service national number). And their story changed to they new of it on 2009-2012 but never on a 2013 or 2014.

Yep, that was my noise for sure! And my 2013 most definitely had it, but my 2015 doesn't. Are they going to fix it up for you? I have new noise now on my 2015, it sounds like when you don't quite get the window up all the way but it looks closed, you can hear just a bit of wind rushing in, that's what it sounds like. And yes, my window is up haha. It seems to be with the weatherstripping on the door not making a tight seal, I'm going to get it in next week when I have a bit more time. We'll see what they say but I'm not expecting much from them, probably have to find some DIY fix for it

Guys I've had the same problem on my 2013 baja. Wind noise is coming from the drivers door at around 80. (Yes in Texas speed limits on some roads are 85). I took it in to Toyota no less then 6 times and left it there over a week, they even had the rep from the factory come out. They replaced everything (weather stripping, windshield, and more) everything except the door and window and it never fixed the issue. Their response was keep it under 80. I damn near traded the truck in, tried one last thing and bought the weathertech window vents. That was about 6 months ago and I haven't heard that annoying sound since.

Well damn, I stand corrected. Sorry to be quick to judge OP (if that's the case and the speed limit is high).

I'm actually at the dealership now. They have said and done everything that every other person who has complained about this said they would. Said they would look into it. Refuse to acknowledge it because they cannot legally drive the car over the speed limit.

It's going to get ugly. But I've documented everything and opened a case with Toyota's national service. Conveniently, my warranty is up at the end of the year, so they will probably try to drag it out until then.

So that raises the question. What is the speed limit where you're at? Just curious and I'm not going to dog on you for speeding.

EDIT: Just watched the video and holy shit that's annoying.

Let's just say if there is an open road in front of me, I'm going to use it. 75 mph in some parts

Fair enough! I see no problem with that. I just can't stand when people whip in and out of traffic on a congested highway. It's a big problem here and I can't wait to leave because of it. There's an accident damn near every day, and I'm almost in one about once a week because of idiots.

Anyways, good luck with the dealer and I hope it ends well. According to this other thread I was just reading about it, they said it was a super quick and easy fix from the dealer. Just some extra windshield caulk in a certain place.

Yeah, keep us updated on the progress of what the dealer says. There's some other threads on here about this and no one ever really ever came up with a good all around fix. All the dealers they tried didn't do a thing either, hope yours is different!
