I’m helping someone locate a TRD Sport 4x4, but I can’t stand the car buying process.

I’d really appreciate a referral to an honest dealer/salesperson. Somewhere in the Houston area would be convenient, but willing to travel anywhere in TX to avoid the usual games.

    Cedar Park in Leander…hands down!!!

I’m in Houston and all the dealers here suck with their games. I went to Cedar Park twice last year, once for my Tacoma and a second time for a Corolla Cross for my mom.

They don’t jack up the price. You pay sticker.

And my sales guy was awesome. We did everything over the phone/text. I just traveled there to pick up the vehicles both times.

They all suck. All are part of Gulf States Toyota. I bought mine in Illinois.

Was the deal you found worth the trip up there?

I think so. MSRP with no added markup items. Availability of TRD OR with a manual and leather was the main factor.

Shapen Toyota, Marshall TX, low inventory, good people, good prices, no BS.
This was the case in ‘21, I’ve since moved to FL

I’ll second Shapen in Marshall….bought my Tacoma there a few weeks ago. Quick and easy process for me….none of the back and forth….I told the sales guy up front that I did not play those games. They were good to deal with from my perspective.

Whatever you do, don’t deal with Street Toyota in Amarillo. A little Price gouging going on, plus most salesmen are arrogant. went down the street to Street VW (their sister dealership.) last fall, and got a comparable 2019 TRD OR for $5k less, and fewer miles. (16k miles) they were wanting $45k for the same with 20k miles.

when I lived in Fort Worth, the Toyota dealership there on HWY 80 was amazing to deal with

I second Cedar Park or, Stewart Toyota in Corsicana, ask for Brandon. No market adjustments, no addendums. Not too far up I45 from Houston.

All I can say is avoid the 290 corridor. Those northwest guys always tried to play games.

The reality is that you can get a pretty good feel on who is a straight shooter and who isn't if you put in a liiiitle effort on the telephone game. Call the sales floor of five or six dealerships. See who is willing to work with you and who just parrots the classic trap of "Come on in, we'll see what we can do then." (said the spider to the fly). It takes the better part of an afternoon to mute the TV and play telephone tag from the comfort of your couch, but its miles better than rolling the dice and catching a dishonest salesman that can happen to be employed at ANY given dealership, "good" or not.

We bought a car from the dealership on hwy 80 recently. Pretty good experience, I'd deal with them again. My wife found one on their used lot she liked. We told them we'd write a check for $x amount If they could get us out the door. They agreed and we were out of there with a new car within an hour or so. Very easy experience

I went to Cedar Park recently to shop for a four runner and the mandatory tint/ceramic package for thousands made me leave.
