So I’m looking to upgrade. Any ideas..... should I keep the same (just newer) or go with another brand like icon or fox??

very personal decision pending on what you need/do/want. However, the more boutique names like Fox, ADS, ICON, King are often widely considered upgrades over Billy 5100s or 5160s.

look at OME or just replace the bilstein shocks with new ones if your current billies are pooched

Unless you really just want some shiny stuff under your truck then I would stick with bilsteins. Especially if you consider sand/salt wear, then they are inexpensive to replace and not really any issue to dial in.

    Billies uses 7 letters
    Bilstein uses 8 letters

Am I just so uncool that I cant understand the reasoning behind this?

I see it with shotgun (shottie) and other words as well.

I’m not mechanicly inclined so I have no idea if they are still in good condition. I always have my vehicle service at my local Toyota dealership and never been told they need to replaced. I been looking online for a while and see all the amazing modS being done and therefore looking to upgrade and spend alittle cash.

well you'd probably know if one had failed. But if you're simply looking to freshen things up, there's no harm there. Dobinsons is another brand of decent aftermarket.

Something to think about, if you're not going to do the work yourself, that labor will eat up a chunk of 2000 really fast. With some of the brands mentioned here, you spend 2k and you're looking at hardware in a box. Another good chunk o' change to mount it.

Push down hard on the front bumper a couple of times then watch the truck. If it rebounds unevenly or keeps bouncing, then the shocks are giving up. Repeat for the rear bumper. If everything feels alright, then the very good Bilstein shocks you have are just fine. Instead, invest that $2,000 into some mutual funds.
