Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with it. I haven't had an issue yet since I got the truck new last May.

Yeah, the Waze app on smartphone is WAY better than any built-in nav because it actively reroutes around traffic. Plus I get points every time I click [still there] when it says a car is on the side of the road.

That computes with what I heard from the local dealer today: $300 USD for the Nov.2021 map update. No thank you! I will scan e-bay...

Why would one use a phone mount, when a USB connection puts the nav display (gia/ Waze etc.) on the screen with the phone in the console?

Not on the pre-2020s or on rentals where getting CP or AA to work is a ridiculous task for that short time. ;)

I like using it. I wish they would either make the factory system either mirror this and other apps, or make them installable in the HU. I know I could just use an iPad for an HU, I would just say like the convenience of using it either the factory one instead of cutting up my dash.

I haven't used the turn by turn feature, just have the map up so I can see the general direction I need to head (I have zero direction sense).
Sounds like I'm not missing out.

Just back from a 9000 mile road trip. NE to SW Every night tent camping at state parks.
A large format 2011 Rand-McNally road atlas was our go to reference, with Waze or google as back up. (I get turned around easily, and that little compass point indicator on the rear view mirror sure can safe back tracking ;-)
