Finally found an SR 6cyl model with a few extras......fairly basic but has the receiver and wiring. Gonna be so much easier moving my 12ft kayak around.....I've been loading it on top of a 2018 Honda Pilot and it was a pain.

I had a 2000 4cyl 4x4 Standard Cab Tacoma and used the ball hitch right in the bumper. Used a wiring harness kit that plugged into one of the rear tail light assemblies. Worked well with my car trailer. I pulled a ‘68 Chevelle and a ‘69 Camaro with that thing and it never broke a sweat. Someone totaled out the truck so I ended “upgrading” to a 6 cyl 4x4 TRD OR Extended Cab. But that 4 cyl was a strong truck for sure.
Not sure if those rear tail light harness kits are still available, but thing worked fine and dandy for me. Was < 75 bucks when I bought it.

Unfortunately the 3rd gen stock bumper isn't rated for much weight, if you take one off you'll see it's mostly plastic.

Yeah, didn’t think about that. Good point. I think the bumper hitch was rated at 3000lbs on my 2000 Tacoma. My last truck and current both have trailer package so have thought about the ball hitch on the bumper in a while.
