If I can source a used gen 2 steering wheel with steering wheel controls, will it hook up to my 2008 Sport that was not originally equipped? Im doing a major audio upgrade and would really like them.

Caveat. I have not done so........

    But I'd say yes.

The key will be your ability to source or build a harness that connects the wheel controls to your new head unit, and that the head unit has the ability to receive that harness/control function.

I'm getting a clearer picture. I found a couple additional threads on similar projects. I may not need an entire new wheel.

I have mostly given up due to the apparent cost for the moment. IF I can locate the parts in a upullit, type yard, maybe but even at LKQ it is NOT a cheap project since you can't use your existing airbag, clockspring, etc.

I picked up a wheel and airbag for about 250. I was wondering if you found out about prewired steering column or if i would need a new steering wheel sensor? I am tracking the clock spring now though.

My understanding is everything after the clock spring is there.

Your clock spring feeds the S8 black plug in the steering wheel / column area which feeds your R15 28 or 20 pin white plug in back of the radio, RH side. Although most of the rebuild threads concentrate on getting a new clock spring ( good idea, but not sure it is needed) which is expensive. Our older units (through 2013?) have three wires coming off of the clock spring to the 20 (my year) or your 28? pin. Your Maestro TO1 harness has both a 20 and 28 pin adapter... problem is that it doesn't appear to be wired/pinned correctly. Here is a picture of the 20 pin MAESTRO hooked to my 20 pin in back of the radio area. Beside it is the 28pin adapter that would be used for yours.20200116_154525.jpg

How do you know which air bag is correct?
