Nobody drives my truck, especially with a MT. I’d tell him to rent a full size for $50/day.

A good friend wouldn’t say that.

I'd do it, but id rent a uhaul trailer for $25.
That way your truck just gets driven and not damaged.

Maybe he’s just a regular friend. Have him rent a truck like others said. I mean...if you have to ask a forum, he might be regular and you’re just a super nice guilt prone guy.

It's a truck not the god damn Mona Lisa. Helping friends is more important than your mall crawler

Home Depot rents trucks, so does all rental companies.

Unless you want to spend the weekend helping out, I really wouldn’t.

    Things to consider:

-Is your truck insured with him driving? This is your out. Have him get full coverage insurance for the weekend.

-Are you insured under his auto policy?

    -Can he replace it?

-Can he cover the cost of scratch and dent repair?

Once you say “yes” it will never stop. For me, I just say “I don’t loan my vehicle out.”

That’s funny because I’d rather loan out someone else’s painting of a woman than loan out my favorite toy.

I would offer to haul it for him.

There are too many potential issues that come up with lending someone your car/truck. And it's even a bigger deal to me if it's a newer truck/vehicle.

So have turned down family members and people that I've known for more than twenty years who wanted to swap or borrow a vehicle.

I don't have any issues in helping them pick up or dump something.

    I have a short story...

When we didn't have a truck, my father in low let us borrow his truck over the weekend. The truck ended up getting stolen....never thought that would ever happen to me (it can happen to anyone). The timing of it...wow. Luckily...or unlucky, they found the truck, wrecked, about 10 miles away. It is repaired now and all is good...except the fact that he may think twice before letting anyone "borrow" his vehicle over the weekend.

I obviously felt really bad and apologized at least 10+ times. I just remember him saying that it is just a car. He handled it pretty well.

Having said that. I myself would be hesitant to let someone borrow my vehicle over an x length of time. I would not hesitate to lend a hand to help someone out. In fact, I just helped my sister move 2 weeks ago....not fun....but she would help me if I needed a hand.

Yeah, I'm going to let him, I really just wanted to see what kind of consensus we had here.
    Should have created a poll.
It is a dang truck after all and yes, he's got good money, him& his wife probably are doubling our annual income.

Either offer to help or just say using it. You could always plan a last minute trip and have an excuse :D

Your truck will be happy doing truck stuff, and you’re a good friend for lending your truck out.

Yes, but it's also your form of transportation insured under your name, not his. If he gets into an accident, whoever fault it is, won't look good.

My roommate has a MT taco on lift with tent and such. He has no problem letting me borrow his truck to drive it somewhere, even for work for a day. I don't mind if he borrows mine either. That's trust. Though I'm still wary about letting anyone borrow/drive it cause it's my only form of transportation and I NEED it for work.

If I was OP, I'd ask about helping out if able instead. If not, tell him that while you may trust him (if you do) that you are hesitant cause it's your baby and its not that you don't trust him, you just want to damage it yourself if it came to that and ask about the U-Hauls and Home Depot as others have suggested.

This thread raised some eyebrows quick!

I'm kinda like f it, you gotta trust people & let go of vehicle obsessiveness at some point..

For a friend? Especially one that close to you? Yea, I’d loan it out in a heartbeat, no question. All of my close friends are honest and loyal people, or else they wouldn’t be my close friend. Any one of them would give me the shirt off their back if I asked (even if it was brand new). And I would give them anything they needed.

Again, if we’re talking close friends, this isn’t even a debate. You can buy another “thing.” A good friend is invaluable. Take care of your people.
